My work is a very small part in much larger projects.For instance, the work that I do in designing marine data buoys for environmental monitoring ensures that the sea environment is not compromised during marine operations which could result in fish or marine mammal deaths. The monitoring is also an EPA requirement for dredging (deepening the harbour) operations to be allowed. The deepening of the harbour will enable larger more efficient ships to come into the harbour meaning cheaper transport costs for importing goods into the country and this can lead to making the products that you buy cheaper and also reduce the pollution caused by vessels.
