This is a really good and really tough question. Robotics is a really young field and it is really hard to predict how it will effect our future, there will likely be both good and bad effects.

Sooner rather than later I think robots will start to help elderly people and people with disabilities. People who at the minute need constant help to complete simple everyday tasks, these people may need to live in a care home or have home help. In the future these people should be able to live in their own home relatively independently thanks to a robot assistant. More long term of course everyone will be able to have their own robot assistant to help them with things in everyday life.

There are of course bad things that come from robots too. One of these that you hear a lot about is robots taking jobs. It is true that in the past few years people have been loosing their jobs because of robots and this is very likely to continue. The effects of this are difficult to predict.

These are just some of the way which robots might effect the future and they are just my opinions. Ultimately it is really difficult to tell what effect robots might have in the future, too much is uncertain. For example anyone living before the internet was invented could not have predicted the effect that it would have on our lives and I think it is the same with robots.
