My Dad was always a hard working man and very good with his hands. He started out training to be a carpenter and ended up taking an apprenticeship as a printer and became a highly skilled one. During the height of the boom before recession hit and a lot of companies were able to automate more of the process’ he lost his job, but, decided to keep doing his best for us and went back to working as a carpenter.

As a result all my life he would be working on stuff in his shed and fixing things around the house. I was always so inquisitive as a child and was fascinated at how things worked. As there was no other girls on my road I played with only boys and became a tomboy. As a result I identified with my Dads interests more than my mam or sisters. We’ve a close bond as a result and now I look after stuff he used to 🙂

      Hope this answers your question
